Will the Tampa Bay housing market get any better?

So, I bought a townhome last September for 145,000. I love it, but my husbands enlistment in the airforce is just about up in a year and a half, and we decided to not stay here any longer. The only thing that sucks about it is the fact that I regret even buying a home, and since the market is so bad I dont want to ruin my credit horribly by doing a short sale or something. My credit is already not too great in the low 600′s anyway.

So, this place is 2 beds with a loft, and 1 and a half half baths. I car garage, built in 2006 I believe, and we are the first owners. Its a nice community with a pool, and I can also sell this place with all the appliances if that helps.

Im not expecting to make any money on this home because we haven’t even owned it very long, but I dont want to lose money either. Like, when we do sell it I dont want to have to owe like 10,000 dollars or something?

What do you think?
We are thinking of putting it for sale around next March. He gets out at the end of Feb of 2010.

Will the market get better? Yes. Unless a nuke lands in Tampa Bay, the market will improve. What I think you really want is a current opinion of value on your townhome. If I were you, I would find a real estate agent that is well regarded and ask him/her to evaluate your home. Take their valuation with a grain of salt as they are not doing an appraisal, and they are trying to get your listing.

of course. Almost all markets have up periods and down periods.

The best time to buy is in a down market.
